Sustainability

Environmentally Sound
Our office design reflects our dedication to the overall health and well-being of our patients, our staff and the environment. Through careful design and attention to detail, we have created a practice that is a healthy and productive place to work; costs less to maintain and operate; and reduces our eco footprint.

Patient Safety
Water used for patients undergoes a three-stage filtration process:

  • Stage 1 – Hurley Protector ceramic filter with a 99.99% efficiency.

  • Stage 2 – Hurley Ceramic Particle filter with a 99.99% efficiency.

  • Stage 3 – Hurley Fluoride filter

– Digital radiographs reduce radiation by up to 90%
– Series 400 Air Purifier: Mercury vapor removal, HEPA filter, UV light to safely remove toxic vapors and microbiological contaminants from the immediate breathing area of the patient, dentist and dental assistant

Improved Air Quality through Central Vacuuming
– Combined with an air purifier, CentralVAC provides clinical air quality equivalent to that of a hospital surgery center
– Cleaner air reduces allergic reactions
– Minimal noise interference creates a soothing environment

Elimination of Toxic Materials
– All of our cleaning products are biodegradable with no harsh chemicals
– Low/Zero VOC adhesives used during construction
– We do not use latex gloves in our office and have found nitrile gloves to be a better and safer alternative
– BPA-free dental materials

Waste reduction
– Hand towels and hand dryers instead of paper towels reduce paper waste
– Paperless computer system
– Water-free vacuum, saving many gallons of water per day (Dry/VAC)\

Energy efficiency
– Our office is in a LEED certified building
– No fluorescent lights, 100% LED lighting system throughout the office

We believe the most valuable tooth is the one nature gave you.

Biomimetic dentistry is centered on preserving healthy tooth structure and restoring teeth in a way that respects their natural strength, function, and design. Whenever possible, we favor conservative treatment that protects what is healthy and rebuilds only what has been compromised.

This is dentistry as careful restoration — precise, restrained, and designed to feel natural.

SMART FAQs:

Can all my amalgam fillings be removed the same day?
In order to minimize any potential mercury exposure, our doctors typically recommend the removal of no more than 2 to 3 amalgam fillings per visit.

I don’t want to leave my current dental practice. Can I come to Harmony just for the SMART procedure?
While we would love to be your primary dental practice, patients are not required to make Harmony their primary dental office. However, all new patients are required to receive a comprehensive oral evaluation and treatment plan prior to any SMART procedure.

How long do I have to wait in between SMART visits?
In order to allow the body to equilibrate after a SMART procedure, we recommend patients wait two or more weeks before proceeding with their next amalgam removal.

How much does the SMART procedure cost?
There is a $99 charge per tooth when using the SMART procedure. This charge is not covered by insurance and is in addition to the cost of the restoration that will be replacing the amalgam filling.

Do I have to have SMART done, even if I don’t want it?
Our office was designed so that all patients, doctors and staff could come into a space that was clean and safe from harmful chemicals and toxins, including mercury. For the safety of our practice, all patients that need an amalgam filling removed must have it done via the SMART protocol.
