Our goal from the inception of Harmony has been to create a dental practice that focuses on the mouth-body connection while providing patients with the safest materials and technology all while fostering a space that promotes love, compassion and kindness. And we pride ourselves in continuing to be an independently owned and operated practice. As we look to our future, we aim to continuously incorporate safe materials, technology and practices for our patients as well as allow our doctors, our hygienists and our entire team the time to provide exceptional care and a personalized experience for each patient.

To that extent, as of March 1st, 2023, we will no longer be in-network with Blue Cross Blue Shield (BCBS) and Delta Dental insurance plans. We have always maintained a high standard of care for our patients, and have been unwilling to compromise or cut corners.

1. What insurances does Harmony accept?
We accept all insurances that allow out-of-network benefits. We will still be accepting BCBS and Delta Dental policies, as an out-of-network provider. Please contact your insurance company to better understand the specifics of your dental plan.

2. What does out-of-network mean?
Being out-of-network simply means that if your in-network plan coverage is 100% on preventative, 80% on basic restorations and 50% on major restorations, your insurance provider will probably provide less coverage with an out -of-network provider, more like 90%, 70% and 40% as an example. Even as an out-of-network provider, the percentages could be the same as the in-network coverage, but the UCR fee (Usual, Customary, and Reasonable fee) could still leave you with an out of pocket expense.

3. What is UCR and how does it affect me?
UCR refers to the amount paid for a medical service in a geographic area based on what providers in the area usually charge for the same or similar medical service. For instance, if we charge $125 for a comprehensive evaluation, and the insurance carrier says they will pay it at 100%, but their allowed amount is $100, then you will be liable for a $25 out-of-pocket expense at the time of your visit because they will cover 100% of their allowed amount, not the providers fee.

4. Do we have to submit claims on our own?
No, we will be submitting your claims including pre-treatment estimates for up-coming appointments.

5. Do we have to pay the full cost of the treatment?
After March 1, 2023, patients with BCBS and Delta Dental Plans will be responsible for the full cost of treatment at the time of service. We will then submit the claim on your behalf and your insurance plan will directly reimburse you with a check in the mail. All other dental insurance providers (MetLife, Aetna, Guardian, Principal, etc.) will reimburse our office directly, meaning you will only be responsible for your co-pay at the time of treatment.

6. Does this mean I have no coverage?
If you have an out-of-network plan, you will typically still have a percentage of coverage for routine cleanings and even treatment like fillings and crown. Please refer to Question 2 understand out-of-pocket coverage.

7. What plans will you be in-network with?
As of March 1st, 2023 we will no longer be in-network with any dental insurance plans.

8. What insurance should I get?
The best thing to do is to speak to your HR/employer for the benefit plans they have chosen to provide you to learn the out-of-network benefits for a plan. If you purchase through the Health Connector, details will be provided with each plan regarding the out-of-network benefits they provide.

9. What is my co-pay for my routine cleaning and exams?
As your upcoming routine cleaning and exam approaches, we will be submitting a pre-treatment estimate to give you the most accurate idea of your co-pay for your upcoming. Pre-treatment estimates will not be submitting more than 1 month prior to your visit. **All appointments in the month of March 2023 with former in-network BCBS and Delta Dental plans, may not have up-to-date pre-treatment estimates as we transition out-of-network for the month**

10. Is Harmony increasing its office fees for services?
We will not be increasing fees for 2023.
